Mining sector is one of the fastest growing sectors since the leadership of the Fifth Phase Government under President Dr. John Joseph Pombe Magufuli and sent his contribution to GDP rise.

According to information provided by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) the contribution of the mining sector to GDP has risen to 5.8 percent for the period January to March 2020 compared to the contribution of 4.2 percent in the same period in 2019.

During the same period, the mining sector increased its growth rate by 15.3 percent compared to 10.0 percent growth in the period January to March 2019.

The Ministry of Mines has commended the Tanzanian company Javan Investment and Co Ltd for using their expertise in the country to invest in diamond mining.

Deputy Minister of Mines Prof. Shukuran Manya when he visited the company to inspect the progress of the project in Mberekese area, Iramba Singida, said the establishment of the mine will be another major Tanzanian mine that will produce diamonds in abundance.

“We have always believed that the largest mining investment in the country must involve foreign companies, but these provide an example of how a Tanzanian can learn and put his work experience in a different company and start his own investment company” ______ Prof Shukuru

He also called on the Iramba District Commissioner to work with the Office of the Resident Mining Officer to address mining disputes.

For his part, Iramba District Commissioner, Suleiman Mwenda said their main goal now is to increase mineral production where last season they produced 317000 grams and imported 36 billion from gold in total.

“We are currently in the process of expanding the range of mining investors as we have more gold areas in our District to increase production and we have more than ten thousand people who are self-employed in mining” ________ Dc Suleiman

Mr. Javan Bidogo the investor of the mine said they were grateful for the arrival of the Deputy Minister as it has strengthened them to see the Government is close to them and gives them enough cooperation. .

Currently Tanzania has a large diamond mines involve an enemy mine that has been in existence since the 1940s and some are very small.
