Tanzania enjoys good relations with its neighbours in the region and in recent years has been an active participant in efforts to promote peaceful resolution of conflicts, foster good economic and trade cooperation.

Recently the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan after a two-day visit to Rwanda which among others has nailed the brotherhood and cooperation of the two countries.

“The talks focused on strengthening, promoting economic cooperation, as well as the politics of the East African region. for the benefit of both parties “

“We also talked about co-operation in the field of ICT as you know in Tanzania we have a backbone that we have distributed in neighboring countries and Rwanda use and today we have signed an agreement here that we continue to keep a good relationship on the use of ICT and congratulations Rwanda is in front of us and we are ready to come to you.”

“We also discussed COVID 19 and have set strategies for cooperation through our Rusumo border post, we have agreed to develop existing existing fraternal and historic partnerships” President

During the visit, President Samia also had the opportunity to visit the modern Volkswagen Rwanda Automotive Factory in Kigali Special Economic Zone capable of manufacturing 6 different vehicles.

Commenting on the visit of the President of Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Liberata Mulamula said that the Government of Tanzania is ready to import vehicles from Rwanda if the country increases production of these vehicles.

“We do not have to import a car from Japan or Germany, we can import these vehicles here in Africa especially considering the continental free trade area agreement which opens up business opportunities” said Hon Mulamula.

Studies show that Tanzania has been selling various products in Rwanda worth 685.63 million US dollars according to international trade figures from the United Nations World Trade Organization (comtrade)

Rwanda is a business partner with Tanzania, there are large traders who use the Port of Dar Es Salaam to transport their cargo and others buy various products such as cereals and beverages in Tanzania and sell to Rwanda.
