UK to continue EU talks should a deal be possible

The spokesperson for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated that the UK will continue trade negotiations with the EU. This will happen provided that Downing Street continues to believe an agreement is possible and as long as there is enough time. Time is of the essence, and according the EU Commissioner, Mairead McGuinness, negotiations have entered into their last hours.

Sputnik V claimed to be created in line with WHO protocols

Miklos Kasler, Hungarian Minister of Human Capabilities, claimed that data provided to the Hungarian delegation regarding the Russian Covid-19 vaccine, Sputnik V, proved that the vaccine had been formulated and created according to the latest technologies and World Health Organisation protocols. This follows a statement made by Brussels, criticising the vaccine as possibly unsafe. The statement made by Kasler also included confirmation that between 3 000 and 5 000 Hungarian citizens have signed up to take part in the third stage of the Sputnik V trial.

Precious metal drops by more than 4%

The price on precious metals decreased sharply as a result of optimism spurred on by the latest Covid-19 vaccine news. This has led a lot of investors away from trading safe-haven assets such as precious metals. Platinum decreased by more than 4% after having rallied for a large portion of last week. Spot gold dropped by 0,21%, silver by 1,29% and palladium by 0,57%.
